Set up or change reminders

Mova can remind you on your planned walking days, on extra days you choose, when your new week is ready and when a challenge starts. Change or turn them off in Profile & settings › Reminders & notifications.

Steps for iPhone and AndroidUpdated 2 min read

The first time

Right after you set up your account, Mova asks When would you like Mova to remind you?

  1. Choose a time: Morning (7:30), Lunch (12:00), Evening (18:00), shown in your phone’s time format, or Custom to pick your own.
  2. Check the days. Mova suggests your planned walking days; there are no reminders on rest days unless you add them.
  3. Tap Turn on reminders. Mova explains what it will send: tap Allow reminders, then allow it when your phone asks.

Tap Not now to skip; you can turn reminders on later.

Change your reminders

Go to Profile & settings › Reminders & notifications. Each reminder has its own switch.

Reminder When Opens
Planned walk reminder On your planned days, at the time you set Your planned walk
Extra walking reminder On days you choose, at its own time Today
Challenge updates When a challenge starts counting That challenge
Weekly plan When your new week is ready Plan

Tap a time to change it. The planned walk reminder follows your plan’s days; for the Extra walking reminder, tap the day buttons to choose its days. Turn a switch off to stop that reminder.

How Mova keeps reminders useful

  • At most two Mova notifications a day.
  • If you’ve already walked that day, the walking reminder isn’t sent. A day with several planned walks gets one reminder.
  • Skipped a walk? Its reminder isn’t sent.
  • Reminders never show your weight or exact numbers on the lock screen. They say things like Ready for your walk? or Time for a walk?

On iPhone

The reminders above are all you’ll get from Mova. Membership notices, such as a renewal, come from the App Store, not from Mova.

To turn all Mova notifications off, or change how they appear: Settings › Notifications › Mova.

On Android

Android also has a Progress group in Reminders & notifications:

  • Daily goal nudge: once, in the afternoon, when you’re close to your goal.
  • Goal reached
  • Challenge progress: halfway, and when you finish a step challenge.

These are sent after your phone shares new steps with Mova, so they can arrive a while after you walk. Turning one on asks for background access in Health Connect (steps and distance only).

Each kind of notification is its own channel in your phone’s settings (Planned walks, Walking reminders, Plan updates, Challenges, Daily goal, Challenge progress), so you can also change them in Settings › Apps › Mova › Notifications. Membership notices come from Google Play, not from Mova.
