Days marked "No step data"

When Apple Health or Health Connect has nothing readable for a day, Mova says so instead of counting it as zero steps. Those days don't count against you.

What it means

No step data for this day · Apple Health didn’t deliver readable data, for example when the phone stayed at home. It doesn’t count against you. (On Android it says Health Connect.)

A day in Progress marked No step data for this day, with no recorded walks.
A day without step data (example data).

Mova treats “we don’t know” differently from “zero”. In charts these days show as empty or dotted, and summaries say how many days they’re based on, for example Based on 5 of 7 days.

A day can also have partial data: Health only had steps for part of the day. Mova shows what it has and marks the day as partial.

What it does to your numbers

Where A day without data
Goal days Neither a goal day nor a missed one. (A partial day where you still reached your goal does count.)
Streak Doesn’t add to your streak and doesn’t end it.
Averages Left out.
Monthly goal The month shows how many days its result is based on.
Challenges Never counts against you.

Common reasons

  • Your phone was off, flat, or left at home.
  • Mova didn’t have access to Health that day, or Health access was turned off.
  • The day was before you connected Health: Mova doesn’t import older history.

Can I fill in a missing day?

Not by hand. If the steps are in Apple Health or Health Connect but Mova shows nothing, see Steps not showing up or not updating. Mova re-reads the last two weeks each time, so a day that Health fills in later appears in Mova too.
