Who Mova is for

  • Adults aged 18 and over. If you enter an age under 18, Mova explains it’s designed for adults and doesn’t continue.
  • Not during pregnancy or the months after giving birth. If you choose Pregnant or recently postpartum, Mova explains it isn’t designed for that time and asks you to follow the advice of your midwife, doctor or other healthcare professional.
  • People with a health condition: check with your doctor before you start. Mova can’t tell you whether exercise is safe for you.

Mova is a walking coach, not a medical device. It doesn’t diagnose or treat any condition. Energy and distance figures in Mova are estimates.

Telling Mova what to consider

During setup Mova asks Anything we should consider when building your plan? You can choose:

  • Knee, hip or back discomfort
  • Balance or mobility limitations
  • Following advice from a healthcare professional
  • Pregnant or recently postpartum (see above)
  • None of these

This isn’t a diagnosis. It helps Mova choose gentler options, such as low-impact walks, and seated or supported workouts where they fit. You can see your answer in Profile & settings › Personal details › Movement considerations.

When to stop

Stop if you feel chest pain or tightness, dizziness, faintness, unusual breathlessness or a racing or uneven heartbeat. If chest pain is severe or doesn’t ease within a few minutes of rest, call emergency services. Get medical advice if any of these keep coming back.

Mova shows this on every workout before you start, and during a walk: tap ⋯ on the walk screen, then If you feel unwell. If you’re unsure, stop walking, sit down and rest.

Walk at your own pace

  • Walk at a pace that feels right for you today. Brisk in Mova means you can talk, but not sing.
  • If a healthcare professional has given you advice about exercise, follow it.
  • In seated and standing indoor workouts every movement has an easier option, and Mova reminds you to sit down (or stay seated) if you feel unsteady.

You’ll find the same points any time in Profile & settings › Legal & about › Health and safety information.
